Descriptions

Oh-Nine Brooklyn Tees is proud to debut our second Crown Heights series of athletic clothing, the 'Weeksville Editions'. A line of clothing celebrating the rich cultural heritage began in 1848 with James Weeks, a stevedore and African-American ex-slave from Virginia purchased a plot of land from Henry C. Thompson (another free African-American) in the Ninth Ward of central Brooklyn. Hence the neighborhood name 'Weeksville', one of the oldest African American enclaves of NYC that spawned many African American innovations including the one of the first Black newspapers (Freedman's Torchlight). The Weeksville community was also where many Blacks sought refuge during the violent New York Draft Riots of 1863, with the community serving as a haven for many African-Americans who fled from Manhattan.

This hooded sweatshirt is available in all sizes between small and 6X, in all colors with any color lettering. We can customize this design to your specification, meaning we can print on any desired color shirt and can change the color of the lettering to your liking. Please use our contact form to express your needs and communicate with us so that we can better serve you.
